PROTESTING against non-payment of salaries for the past three months, staff of Adarsh Government school, at Pakka village in Faridkot district attempted suicide on Wednesday and tried to jump into a canal near Rajasthan feeder.
The teachers along with parents staged a protest near Rajasthan feeder and when no one from the administration paid attention even after three hours of traffic jam in hot weather, a few of them tried to jump in a nearby under-repair canal.
The cops, however, stopped them and did not let anyone jump. Later, DC, Faridkot MS Jaggi visited the spot pacified the protesters. He told the teachers that their demands had already been conveyed to the head office. Local AAp leaders, Gurdit Singh, Aman Warring and others were also present at the protest.

Teachers alleged that the government did not spend much on the buildings and infrastructure of Adarsh Schools and hence, had bungled funds worth crores.
