While BJP is putting up a united front to fight in the Ludhiana North constituency,Congress is placing bets on its traditional vote.

BJP candidate from Ludhiana North Parveen Bansal, who is also the senior deputy mayor in the Municipal Corporation today invited Punjab Trade Board vice-chairman Madan Lal Bagga, sitting MLA of this constituency Harish Bedi, sitting and former BJP councillors to show a unity in the party.

Bansal said,“Till now there were rumours that few councillors and sitting MLAs are not walking with me,but all these were false rumours. One can see everyone supporting me. In fact, the SAD workers are more enthusiastic. I am getting good response from the constituency and I am sure that the traditional Congress seat will now become a traditional BJP seat.”

It needs to be mentioned that Congress candidate Rakesh Pandey had been contesting from this constituency from the past five terms and he had been MLA four consecutive times. He lost for the first time to BJP’s Harish Bedi by about 5,000 votes in 2007.

Bansal said,“This time, the margin will increase to more than 15,000.”

As per Bansal’s claims, residents are not asking for anything new and rather are feeling satisfied with ongoing development works.

However when Rakesh Pandey, the Congress candidate was asked he said,“In the past five years, nothing happened in the name of development,so we are uncovering loopholes of the present government.”

Pandey said,“Every candidate has their own claims while campaigning,so I don’t have to say anything about BJP candidate. But I am sure that Congress will get back Ludhiana North again.

Pandey said,“The poor sewerage work is an open secret that the present MLA did not fix. So the mandate will tell the rivals about the choice of masses.”

Bhattal campaigns for Pandey

Leader of opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal campaigned for Ludhiana North candidate Rakesh Pandey assured him a cabinet rank if voted to power. Addressing the masses she said,“You make him a winner, and getting a cabinet rank for him is my task. You will have a minister at your doorstep.”

Reacting to SAD’s manifesto she said,“They released it so late because they were busy copying others’ promises.”

Bhattal stated that SAD-BJP Government failed to bring white paper on economic health of the state. She said that all promises done in manifesto will be delivered and even more suggestions will be added.

Dhumal bats for bansal

Prem Kumar Dhumal,Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh,on Sunday, stated that results of elections in Punjab will create history and SAD-BJP government will come back to power for the second term.

Dhumal was campaigning for BJP Candidate Parveen Bansal in Ludhiana North. He predicted mid-term polls in the Centre as well. He stated,“Congress already has a strained relationship with Trinamool Congress,DMK and NCP. So one cannot rule out mid- term polls.”

Dhumal appealed to all the HP residents, settled in Punjab,to vote for the ruling alliance. He said,“Himachal is your janam bhumi but Punjab is karambhumi. So all HP residents settled in Punjab must vote for SAD-BJP who have taken good care of them.”

Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal also addressed the masses and apprised them about the election manifesto which the party released on Sunday. Sukhbir also addressed a public rally in Jamalpur area in support of SAD candidate Sharanjit Singh Dhillon.
