Rehearsals have been going on since January 19.

A district official said: “There will be six contingents of PAP-Jalandhar and one from the Punjab Police, besides several of NCC cadets. Like every year, there will be about a dozen tableaux prepared by different departments.”

The approach roads to the venue are being given a facelift, with workers busy cleaning the roads and putting a fresh coat of paint on the pavements and pillars along the roads. The areas around several government offices are also being spruced up for the day.
