Congress rebel Jagmohan Sharma,on Monday, decided to contest as an Independent candidate from Ludhiana East. Jagmohan Sharma was the former Ludhiana district Congress president.
Congress leaders Dimple Rana,Leena Tapria and Jagmohan Sharma,on Sunday, had announced that one of them will contest as an Independent. Sharma will contest against Congress party candidate Gurmail Pehalwaan and SADs Ranjit Singh Dhillon.
Sharma said,I will file papers on January 11. Congress ignored my loyalty and I had no choice but to contest as an Independent candidate. I am contesting on the demand of Beopar Mandal,Industry cell, and other organisations who wanted me as a candidate.
Rebels from various constituencies have lodged their anger against MP Manish Tiwari for causing chaos in the district. Tiwari, however, maintained that he will talk to the rebels and get them on board soon. It is hard for aspirants to understand that everyone cannot be given a ticket. We understand the importance of every worker and leader in our party. The unrest will pass soon and everyone will work together, Tiwari added.
Meanwhile Congress workers have maintained that they will not support candidates of the party from Ludhiana East.
However, the rebellion from Ludhiana Central seems to have settled as the the group of councillors, who were to announce an Independent candidate on Monday, failed to do so. Sources revealed that they had a meeting with PPCC Chief Amarinder Singh in which he had assured them of due respect of the senior leaders.
