Commenting on the raids conducted by the income tax department on Saluja Enterprises Limited on Wednesday,Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal,who was in the city on Thursday,said that it was a complete conspiracy of Congress. Asked about the raids conducted by the income tax department on an industrial house of Ludhiana,Badal said “that Congress-led UPA government was using CBI,Income Tax,DRI and other central agencies as their personal forces to coerce opponents,for which the UPA would have to pay dearly”.

MC demolishes ramps encroaching on roads

LUDHIANA: The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation on Thursday demolished three ramps made in front of the houses encroaching on roads in New Hargobind Nagar near the Christian Medical College and Hospital. The ramps which were almost 5 feet in height had become a nuisance for other residents of the colony as not only they blocked traffic but also led to accumulation of rainwater in front of houses. “We demolished three large ramps made illegally on roads by residents on the complaints received from other residents,” said Monika Anand,assistant town planner,Zone B.
