Hero DMC Heart Institute: Technician shunted out after he dupes hospital

Secretary,management,Hero DMC Heart Institute,Prem Gupta asserted that “the inquiry into the matter is on and we have shunted out this technician”. “Basically,this technician had floated a firm in the name of his brother while the address of the company was shown to be his own residence. We do not allow any technician of ours to run a business related to supply of hospital material,” Gupta said. “We also found that we were being given inflated bills. For now,we have stopped the payment of Rs 2 lakh which we owe to this technician. At the same time,I have called for records of the last six months to look into the total loss.”

The management,however,has not filed any police complaint in the matter.

After being dragged into the scam,Dr Gurpreet Singh Wander,chief cardiologist at this institute,is rumoured to have offered to resign. Administrative powers given to him have been withdrawn. He was attacked in March this year by some unknown persons on the Bathinda Tapa highway and suffered serious injuries to his head,legs and arms.

Gupta,however,said “These are mere rumours. Dr Wander has nothing to do with this or any other issue. He has not resigned,nor are we letting him go. He is the star of this hospital,but then this is true that there is someone who is trying to malign Dr Wander’s name and we will get to the root of this issue. The attack on Dr Wander and the current rumours could be linked.”

On withdrawing administrative powers from Dr Wander,Gupta said,“There is nothing like removing. A medico should not be looking into day-to-day administrative issues. So we have sent in another person,and that is all.”
