A TEAM of Haryana police Wednesday brought Honeypreet Insaan, the ‘adopted daughter’ of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, and her accomplice Sukhdeep Kaur to Bathinda for the secobd time as part of investigations. They were taken to Jangi Rana village and the residence of one Gurmeet Singh. Gurmeet is a cousin of Sukhdeep Kaur’s husband, sources said. Sources claimed that Honeypreet as well as Sukhdeep had stayed at the house for a few days. The police team was led by DSP Mukesh Kumar.
Gurmeet Singh was not present in the house as he had taken his wife to Ludhiana’s DMCH for treatment, said the village sarpanch. Gurmeet’s mother, Sharanjeet Kaur, in her 60s, was present. However she went out of the house soon after the police team left. The large house has over 10 rooms and is located on the outskirts village and there is no other house nearby. Police sources said this may have been the reason that Sukhdeep chose this house as a hideout for a few days.
Village sarpanch Nirmal Singh told mediapersons that Sharanjeet Kaur had told him that her relative, Sukhdeep Kaur, had stayed in the house for a few days along with Honeypreet was staying with her.
The area falls under Nandgarh police station of Bathinda. The incident however has come as a major embarrassment for the Punjab police as the Haryana police made two visits in Bathinda district after taking police remand of Honeypreet. However, Punjab police had been claiming that Honeypreet had never stayed in any part of the state. Bathinda SSP Naveen Singla said, “I am aware that a team from Panchkula came to Jangi Rana. However, they never shared any information with us.”
