The residents of Gopal Nagar from ward number 8 protested against the councillor and MLA on Monday.
Facing erratic water supply for four months, they blamed the tussle between SAD MLA Ranjit Singh Dhillon and Independent area councillor Daljit Singh Bhola on their woes.
Raghuvir Singh, one of the residents who blocked Tajpur chowk highway, said, “We were quiet for four months and thought things would improve but they are simply not listening to us. Whenever MLA and councillor are contacted, they blame each other. They send water tankers but give no reply on why pipes have not been installed till now. Also, they have no clue to why blocked pipes are not being cleaned.”
When contacted, area councillor Daljit Singh Bhola said, “It is because of extremely long power cuts that water supply is erratic. We got tenders passed for new pipes to be installed in three streets but the contractor left work midway and now new tenders have been floated. Area MLA is responsible for delay in work of state government as he tries his best to delay works deliberately. When we get works started, he runs to inaugurate them, trying to show people that it was made possible because of his efforts.”
