Cabinet Minister Hira Singh Gabria warned them to complete the projects well in time because elections are coming near.
In a specially convened meeting between Cabinet Minister Hira Singh Gabria,Government officials of Municipal corporation,Electricity board and other departments,Minister pulled up the officials for the slow pace of work. Minister warned them to complete the projects well in time because elections are coming near.
It needs to be mentioned that in the previous meeting held about 2 months back,Punjab state power corporation Limited (PSPCL) was warned to issue electricity connections in the mixed land use areas without seeking change of land use (CLU) report, but still huge stock has been piled up.
Industrialist Manjit Singh Khalsa complained,“Only those cases have been given electricity connections which have been given test report and the rest have been put on hold. So industrialists are being harassed a lot.”
Gabria pulled up the PSPCL staff and asked them why the delay is there. The officials told that pending cases will be cleared soon.
It needs to be mentioned that industry is existing the mixed land use areas for more than 60 years but the master plan was made about two years back. Khalsa said,“About 72 colonies where more than 60 per cent industry is located have been declared mixed land use recently only. So CLU is needed for doing commercial work on agriculture land and not in the present case. No other department is seeking CLU except PSPCL.”
Gabria also expressed great dissatisfaction over the pace of development works going on in Atamnagar constituency which is his vote bank. He asked the MC officers why they are running so slow when money is there for the projects.
Sources revealed that Gabria said that at the fag end of the tenure, they cannot afford to make the voters unhappy and they remember the works done these days and not what all has been done before. Joint Commissioner of MC B K Gupta and many others attended this meeting.
