Furnace owners on 4-day ‘strike’ from today

Protesting against the raids by the Central Excise Department and four days of power cut by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL),induction furnace owners of Mandi Gobindgarh have decided to go on a four days strike from Saturday.

Protesting against the raids by the Central Excise Department and four days of power cut by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL),induction furnace owners of Mandi Gobindgarh have decided to go on a four days strike from Saturday. They have also asked their Ludhiana counterparts to support this strike. K K Garg,President of the association said,“We are already in trouble because of power cuts and now the Central excise department is also troubling us.” The price of steel has increased by Rs 500 per metric tonne in a single day after the announcement of power cuts.
