Farmer dies in accident

Dakha police registered a case of reckless driving and causing death due to negligence against Anumeet Singh.

A farmer coming towards Ludhiana to attend the Kisan Mela at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) died in a road accident on Saturday morning. The accident took place after collision between two cars in village Gahor on Ludhiana-Ferozepur highway.

The deceased has been identified as Mukand Singh, 60, of village Manuke. The injured are Rajwinder Singh, 45, who is the nephew of the deceased and Anumeet Singh of Raikot, who was driving the second car.

Dakha police registered a case of reckless driving and causing death due to negligence against Anumeet Singh following the statement of Rajwinder Singh.

In his statement, Rajwinder Singh said he along with his uncle Mukand Singh were going to Kisan Mela in their Maruti Zen car. As they reached near Gahor an over speeding car coming from Ludhiana hit their vehicle. The impact of collision was so high that Mukand Singh died on the spot.

Inspector Waryam Singh, SHO Mullanpur Dakha police station said that the injured have been admitted to a city hospital.
