The case of molestation allegation by Manjit Kaur,a resident of Dugri on Harvinder Singh, owner of Bagga tent house on Saturday opened a can of worms for Youth Akali Dal (YAD),which is led by PR and Revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia. Dugri SHO has been suspended for mishandling the case

The Ludhiana wing of YAD on Saturday protested outside Dugri police station after the arrest of Harvinder Singh based on the statements by Manjit Kaur who consumed poison and was admitted to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.

Kaur alleged that Harvinder Singh used to pass derogatory comments. On the other hand,Harvinder Singh alleged that Kaur along with her husband used to send her lewd and obscene SMSes since August 31,a complaint regarding the same was submitted to DCP Harsh Bansal and later SHO Dugri Jatinderjit Singh was enquiring the matter.

However,on October 11 when police called Manjit Kaur for questioning, she consumed poison. As per a her statements,Kaur alleged that Harvinder Singh along with two others used to pass derogatory comments. Also police asked her about her SIM card after which Harvinder and his two accomplices instigated her to end her life. Later, the victim’s family also alleged molestation charges on YAD leader Meet Pal Singh and Gurvinder Singh Bobby. While an FIR was registered on October 11 and Harvinder Singh was arrested, police is yet to verify the charges.

Meanwhile,Youth Akali Dal on Saturday alleged that Dugri SHO registered the FIR and arrested Harvinder under pressure and without investigating the case properly.

“The woman consumed poison after police caught her guilty for sending lewd SMSes. Police instead of booking the women arrested Harvinder Singh,” said Neeraj from YAD. “We have suspended Dugri SHO for mishandling of case,” said Bhupinder Singh,ADCP-II.
