Health teams on Friday visited the Jawahar Camp area after getting reports of contaminated water supply from street numbers 7 and 8. The teams found diarrhoea cases in the area.
District health officer Dr Avinash Kumar said that mild cases were reported but the water quality needed to be improved. He stated that MC officials were informed that safe drinking water must be provided in this area. MC officials also collected four water samples.
Health teams also distributed chlorine tablets and provided health education.
Last year as well, water contamination was reported from Jawahar Camp and a number of persons had been taken ill.
Old water pipes were the reason behind the leakage,a problem which has not yet been rectified.
