Four dead in Ferozepur road accident amid dense fog

Following the accident, the state govt announced relief of Rs 1 lakh each for the families of the dead and free treatment for the injured patients. School timings in Ferozepur and Barnala have been changed to 10 am, starting Wednesday, authorities said.

At least four people were killed and five others injured after a head on collision between a Punjab Roadways bus and a truck on the Ferozepur-Fazilka amid dense fog on Tuesday. Drivers of both the vehicles died on the spot after the bus going from Ferozepur to Fazilka smashed the truck coming from the opposite direction.

Following the accident, the state government announced a relief of Rs 1 lakh each for the families of the dead and free treatment for the injured patients.

The air quality index across Punjab has been graded as very poor even as north India is reeling under dense fog.  Stubble burning is being cited as one of the major reasons behind the fog. School timings in Ferozepur and Barnala have been changed to 10 am, starting Wednesday, authorities said.
