Nakas set up near Nandpur village (Sahnewal) & Cheema Chowk
The Ludhiana police have recovered two contrabands of smack,one from a couple and another from two youths.
The DCP added that when the police physically checked Bhajan Ram they found a small black leather pouch hidden in the waste band in which the police found 100 gm of smack and a cash worth around Rs 1 lakh.
The cost of the smack caught is pegged at Rs 25 lakhs in the international market. After this the police checked the vehicle and found weighing stones,scales,boxes and some papers that had narcotics smeared on them.
The police also found 10 kg of opium on Guddo Rani. The couple have been booked under the NDPS act and were presented in a local court on Tuesday.
We have got police remand of the couple and we are trying to find out the persons to whom these narcotics were sold. At the same time we have found that Bhajan ram has been previously booked in some nine cases similar cases have been recorded in police stations of Goraya,Sahnewal and Norrmahal against Bhajan Ram who despite police warnings and court proceedings against him did not give up this trade, added DCP Toor.
Meanwhile,in another case,Sub-Inspector Kashmir Singh had sent up a police naka near Cheema Chowk on Monday where he stopped two youth Ankit Kumar (21) and vikas Kumar (23). On checking the police found 30 gms of smack ( 16 gms on Ankit and 14 gms on Vikas).
The cost of this smack in the international market is around Rs 8 lakhs and the accused as per the police have told them that they had purchased this smack from an unknown person in Amritsar.
