Five arrested for murder

Ludhiana: After protests by area residents and MLA Simarjeet Singh Bains,Ludhiana police arrested five persons allegedly involved in murder of 18-year-old Arsh. On Wednesday,the family members refused to collect the body from Apollo Hospital for post-mortem till accused are arrested.Police told the protesters that it has arrested five people and will arrest the sixth person as soon as it can.

Loot attempt foiled

LUDHIANA: Vinay Kumar,a clerk at a fruit wholesaler,received a bullet injury on Wednesday when robbers tried to flee with Rs 1.5 lakh,which he and his colleague Kishan Kumar were going to deposit in a bank. However,he was successful in foiling the robbery.

AITF team meets CM

LUDHIANA: A delegation of the All Industries and Trade Forum (AITF) met CM Parkash Singh Badal,Industries and Commerce Minister Anil Joshi on Wednesday in Chandigarh. The industrialists apprised the CM that regular tripping of power supply from Lalton 220 kva suv-station (which feeds almost half of Ludhiana) was causing huge losses to the industries.

Councillors sent to jail

LUDHIANA: Independent councilor from ward number 8,Daljit Singh Grewal alias Bhola — arrested for attempt to murder — has been sent to Ludhiana Central Jail on judicial remand for 14 days along with Independent councilor from ward 7,Gurpreet Singh Gora,on Wednesday.
