Projects above Rs 50 lakh to be videographed

Ludhiana: Taking quick action,Municipal Corporation authorities called for Finance & Contract Committee (FCC) meeting on Wednesday evening following a protest by congress councillor Raju Thaper earlier in the morning. Thaper had threatened that if the FCC meeting was not arranged in a week,the congress councillors will sit on dharna. The meeting was conducted a few hours later where projects worth Rs 50 crores were cleared. Thaper had alleged that projects of congress councillors are not being allotted while SAD councillors are getting files cleared quickly. Meanwhile in the FCC meeting,in order to have transparency in the projects and also to check the quality of the material used,FCC of Municipal Corporation has decided to do videography of all the projects with budget costing more than Rs 50 lakhs.

GGN holds creative cooking contest

Ludhiana: Hotel management department of GGN Institute of Management and Technology (GGNIMT) organised a very innovative cookery contest “Student-Teacher Chef Competition” here on Wednesday. Bussinessman and MLA Jasbir Singh (Jassi) Khangura of Park Plaza was the chief guest for the occasion. Ten schools took part in the competition. Each school sent a team comprising of two students and one teacher. The teams were given a professional (manual and automatic) kitchen along with a set of Indian and imported ingredients to prepare dishes of their own choice. During the prize distribution ceremony,Jassi Khangura gave away the trophies along with gift hampers to the winning teams. Guru Nanak International public school bagged the first prize. GGN public school was declared runner-up. KVM school got the ‘Best Innovation’ award while Sargodha public school was awarded with the ‘Best Teamwork’ award.
