CIPHET gets Rs 2.2 crore to build food lab
Aiming to strengthen the safety and quality of public food and to serve the food industry,Central Institute of Post-harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET) is going to set up a food testing laboratory for the northern region.
Ministry of Food Processing Industry,Government of India,has granted Rs 2.2 crores for establishing a highly sophisticated food testing lab in the Agricultural Structures and Environmental Control (AS&EC) division of the Institute. Dr R K Gupta,Director of the Institute,informed that this laboratory would be equipped with highly sophisticated instruments for the testing of different food products,which would serve the interests of food products manufacturers and consumers in the region. Dr S N Jha,Head of the division said that the proposed laboratory would be a unique food-testing hub for the nothern region and will offer its services and be useful to farmers,small scale entrepreneurs and food industries.
