Bhattian Sewage Treatment Plant overflows again, water enters Tiger Safari

The villagers protested against the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation for poor maintenance of the STP.

The Bhattian Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) overflew again late on Monday, and the situation worsened on Tuesday as water entered even the jungles of Tiger Safari.

Not only the tigers were kept in enclosures, but the people from nearby village Bhattian were also a harried lot as water entered their homes. On Tuesday, the villagers protested against the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation for poor maintenance of the STP.

Reportedly, the staff at the plant stopped work due to pending dues and motors were not operated. But the villagers claimed that even when the staff is working, condition is no different as dirty and stinking water enters their homes.
