Chairman-cum-MD of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited,K D Chaudhary,on Friday warned all officers to be courteous to consumers who call them in cases of power failure. In a meeting held here on Friday,Chaudhary also stated that those who do not perform their duties will be transferred and may even face disciplinary action. He added that a few transfers had already been effected to teach erring officers a lesson.
Chaudhary said he had received loads of complaints that consumers were not being provided proper information in case of power cuts and at times and that staff including the senior officers were behaving rudely and not answering calls a number of times. A number of times local faults are not even repaired on time. The incharge of every division should do random checking of the control rooms at day as well as night hours, he added.
Earlier,Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the state governments main priority was the supply of power to domestic consumers. We have imposed three weekly offs on the general industry and four on arc induction furnaces at a heavy loss to PSPCL. I have, however, asked the authorities to ensure that domestic consumers are not inconvenienced, he added. Sukhbir further said that he himself was monitoring the power supply situation at every feeder to ensure regular supply to domestic consumers during summers.
In Ludhiana alone, however, staff hardly respond to the complaints lodged at the common complaint centre and at most times, there is no response from he centre itself.
