The bakery unit at Ludhiana central jail would be upgraded soon, said Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Rajpal Meena who visited the jail premises on Thursday and discussed the project.
Meena checked the quality of bakery products and said that the unit is currently producing 1.5 quintals of biscuits daily. The biscuits are supplied to various canteens and jails of Punjab.
Now, the target is to expand supply to government schools, offices, universities and other departments, said ADGP. The bakery unit was inaugurated in the Ludhiana central jail in collaboration with Lovely Professional University (LPU) who provided training to inmates. Currently 150 inmates are working in the bakery unit.
