While couples specially planned their deliveries on the unique date,11.11.11,for Lakhwinder Kaur from Dasuya,it was an emergency delivery at 11 am,on Friday at Dr Sumita Sofat Hospital because of foetal distress.

Kaur said,“I am glad that my son and I are fine. I am not bothered about the timing. The doctor told me that emergency delivery had to be done today itself and later the doctors informed me that it happened at unique time by chance. So everything happens for good.” Her son weighed in at a healthy 3 kg.

However Vikas Sharma from Dugri phase 2 and his wife Shalini Sharma had specially planned the delivery for today. Sharma said,“We wanted the baby at any time between 8 am and 8 pm but the delivery happened at exact 11.11 a.m. So it is really a big surprise for us.” Dr Manpreet Kaur from Deep Hospital delivered the baby. She said ,“Five deliveries took place on Friday, but this one took place at exactly 11.11 am. The nursing staff was excited to see this baby who was born on a very unique day.”

Dr Minni Ahuja also said that two deliveries took place at her nursing home today and one was at 11.11 am of a male baby. She said,“I am really surprised as to why parents have become so obsessed with this dates. But patients wished to deliver today. So we respected their request.”

However when Newsline contacted Dr G S Mann,Director of Divine Astrologer,he said,“There is nothing special about these dates. It is a mere hype or superstition. According to numerology the date considered while making predictions is 11.11.2011 and not 11.11.11. So the uniqueness diminishes. Moreover, the child born in Kartik month will also have to get one special pooja done. So it seems that fortune tellers with vested interests are misguiding parents to choose this day.”
