Kissan Mela concludes
Ludhiana: The two-day Kisan Mela at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU),Ludhiana concluded on Friday with the prize distribution function,in which Arvind Kumar,Deputy Director General,Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR),New Delhi was the chief guest. Addressing the huge gathering of farmers,Kumar said that Punjab has produced enough foodgrains to feed the nation and its farmers,PAU scientists and extension functionaries of the state departments played a vital role in this.
Textile labourers strike continues
Ludhiana: The strike by textile mazdoor union continued on Friday. Today a total of 110 power loom factory workers joined the strike.Workers of Heera Nagar also joined the strike. The workers are demanding hike in per piece rate and implementation of labour laws. The workers stated that they have no plans to come back to work till their demands are met.

Skin care workshop
Ludhiana: ABOUT 200 Girl Students participated in a Hands On Workshop on Skin Care organized by the Rotaract Club at SAS Govt. Polytechnic College for Girls,Rishi Nagar under the aegis of Rotary club Ludhiana greater. Rotarian Dr Shikha Aggarwal ,an eminent Skin Specialist and Cosmetologist delivered a talk on this occasion followed by training session for the girls.
Swimming contest
Ludhiana: The Annual Swimming Gala marked the end of the summer swimming session at Sat Paul Mittal School. The students competed in various events and showcased their swimming skills and techniques which they had acquired during the past few months. Tejasvi Chaudhary,Sachinmeet Singh and Guneet Singh won gold medals in U 16,U 14 50m and 25m freestyle categories and Mehtab Kaur,Prisha Thapar and Ria won gold medals in U 14 Girls 50m,U 12 & U 10 25m freestyle categories respectively.
