The city celebrated Mother’s Day in style on Sunday. Sons, daughters and even daughters-in-law gave some lovely surprises to their mothers and mothers-in-law. Some took to social networking sites and posted their selfies with mothers, others enjoyed the day at home spending entire Sunday with their mothers.
The facility to orders gifts, cakes and flowers through Internet came in handy for youngsters. Talking to Newsline, Anupreet Sethi, a newlywed from Model Town area, said, “This was my first Mother’s Day after marriage and thus I ordered a cake and flowers for my mother-in-law.”
Ashish Malhotra, a college student, said, “I never get time to visit market and do something special for mom but this time a bouquet ordered online along with a cake reached at home early in the morning.”
Bakeries and malls also made the day special for mothers visiting these outlets. Raman Singh, who got customised cupcakes for his mother, said, “Cakes are very common, so I got special cupcakes made for my mom from Ribbons bakery. I got homely things like kitchen tools, washing clothes, tea set etc made on them.”
MBD Mall did special decorations and also provided ‘Super Mom’ cutouts, and mothers got their photographs clicked. Manav Inder Guram from MBD group said, “We have done this to make mothers visiting our malls special. All days are celebrated like Valentine’s Day, Children’s Day and others and so we cannot let mothers feel let down.”
Customised cakes with Louis Vuitton bags, cosmetics and other women’s stuff were also available at Hot Breads Bakery. Harjinder Kukreja from Hot Breads said, “Children are ordering LV handbag-shaped cakes and also the ones with photographs of their mothers.”
Mother’s Day celebrations were also held at Dass and Brown School, Everest School and Penguin Castle Pre-school on Saturday.
