The United Cycles Parts and Manufacturers Association (UCPMA) on Thursday submitted a memorandum to M P Arora, MD of Punjab State Industrial Export Corporation (PSIEC),and requested him to abolish zoning system in the focal points due to which the industrialists were facing major hurdles in getting NoC from PPCB,power corporation and other government departments.
Following an accident in Sheetal Vijs under-construction building in Jalandhar,PSIEC had implemented zoning policy due to which the industrialists were told that they could do construction only in 60% area and the rest had to be left open taking safety measures. Since then,no expansion has been done by industrialists as the cases are being rejected by PSIEC on the plea of violations of building bylaws.
UCPMA president Gurmeet Singh Kular said,During terrorism time,we were told to raise high walls and do extensive construction in factories, and now zoning has been implemented. For the past one year, many files have been gathering dust in departments. This is not justified. This zoning policy should be abolished.
The memorandum said the government of Punjab had been very kind to give some time to the industries for the registration of the title deed @ allotment rates. However, this facility was withdrawn due to the election process. We request you to once again give the opportunity to the industries to register their title deed at allotment prices, he added.
The members asked for maintenance of street lights as well in the focal points.
