AAP MP Bhagwant Mann on Friday got a newly constructed building of a government school inaugurated by two meritorius girl students — Sarabjit Kaur of Class XII and Jaspreet Kaur of Class X.
The names of the mason, plumber and other workers who constructed the building have found a place on the foundation stone.
The Government Senior Secondary School at Sherpur village in Mehal Kalan block, Sangrur, had an unsafe building.
This was demolished and Mann had given Rs 20 lakh to construct a new building. Six rooms were ready on Friday and dedicated to the school staff, said Mann.
He said, “We have acknowledged the workers who constructed the building rather than focusing on political leaders.”
Mann added, “We need to acknowledge all those who worked hard in making this building so that people will remember their contribution and children will value dignity of labour.”
Principal Paramjit Singh was also named in the foundation stone. On Friday, when Mann asked the girls to cut the ribbon, all the workers who constructed the building were also present.
Arun and Amarjeet Singh said, “We are elated. For the first time, our names are on the foundation stone.”
Taking a dig at SAD-BJP and Congress leaders who are locked in a ‘credit war’ over laying of foundation stones, Mann said, “Politicians should acknowledge the efforts of the masses rather than mentioning their names.”
