A 75-year-old man died following a scuffle with her daughter-in-law in Jagjit Nagar area on Sunday.
A case was registered following the statement of Sukhdev Kaur, wife of the deceased.
In her complaint Sukhdev Kaur said that after the death of her son Swarn Singh, her daughter-in-law Harjinder Kaur, 38, had started living on upper floor of the house.
She alleged that on Saturday, she entered into an argument with them and on Sunday morning again she started abusing and assaulted them.
Sukhdev Kaur said that during the scuffle, her husband Daljit Singh fell on the ground and became unconscious. She rushed him to Raghunath Hospital where he died.
Inspector Jatinderjit Singh, SHO at Sadar police station, said that the police registered a case under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC against Harjinder Kaur.
The SHO added that Swarn Singh, son of the complainant, had died under mysterious circumstances on April 17, 2011.
While Sukhdev Kaur accused Harjinder Kaur of killing him and filed a case of murder against her daughter-in-law, the latter had accused her in-laws of abetment to suicide. Both the cases are pending.
