The annual convocation of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH),Ludhiana,was held at Dumra Auditorium today. Fifty-one medical graduates of the 2006 MBBS batch were awarded their degrees and prizes.
The chief guest on the occasion was Medical Council of India (MCI) Board of Governors Chairman Dr K K Talwar. In his address,Dr Rajoo Singh said that Dr Talwar is an internationally acclaimed cardiologist,a loved teacher and a renowned researcher in the field of medicine.
Principal Dr Daljit Singh read out the annual report of the College and highlighted the achievements and progress made by the faculty and various departments over the last one year. Congratulating the graduates,Dr Talwar said that they should translate their Hippocratic oath into reality and heal the sick to bring solace and happiness in this country where inequality and poverty permeate.
Advising the graduates,the chief guest said that it is particularly imperative for the new graduates,who are at the threshold of their professional career,to make full use of their talent to meet the current challenges. DMCH Managing Society President Sunil Kant Munjal congratulated the graduates and asked them to fulfill their duty with utmost dedication and within the limits of medical ethics.
He exhorted the medical graduates to keep faith in their profession. Vice-Principal Dr Jagdeep Whig administered the Hippocratic oath to the fresh graduates before presenting them their degrees.
The gold medal for the best graduate was presented to Dr Bhandari Gurbir Singh and the silver medal to Dr Avreen Singh Shah. The Best All-Rounder and Best Intern Award also went to Dr Avreen Sigh Shah.
The chief guest awarded 70 prizes and 17 medals to students of various batches who had excelled in various subjects. The other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Vice-President of DMCH Managing Society Gian Chand Dhawan, Amrit Nagpal,Secretary of the Society,Prem Kumar Gupta,Treasurer Satish Sanwalka,members of the Managing Society,Medical Superintendents Dr Sandeep Puri,Dr B S Shah and Dr Ashwani Chaudhary,Chief Cardiologist Dr G S Wander and Assistant Dean (Academics) Dr Sandeep Kaushal.
