40 women drivers issued challans

The total number of challans crossed 600 in the entire city for various violations.

The traffic police held special nakas in the city on Valentine’s Day to nab eve-teasers and violators of traffic rules.

Talking to Newsline, ACP (traffic) Richa Agnihotri said that a special naka was put on Malhar Road near Punjab Agricultural University.

“We wanted to target the women drivers who do not wear helmets and seat belts. Also the triple riders, vehicles with tinted glasses were targeted to avoid nuisance on Valentine’s Day,” she said.

As many as 40 women drivers were issued challans on Saturday for not wearing helmets and seat belts. A total of 125 challans were issued at the special naka near PAU. However, the total number of challans crossed 600 in the entire city for various violations, said Agnihotri.
