The countdown to World Cup 2011 has begun,so get ready to…sing! A music album titled Play for the Game is being releasing by uTunes Entertainment online through iTunes downloads next week. Among the collaborators in the three-track album are up-and-coming musicians from some of the host nations — Sajjid Islam from Dubai,Kamran Ahmed from Pakistan,Sherrin Varghese and Natasha Rathnayake from Sri Lanka and Tausif Ahmed from Bangladesh.

The music has been arranged by DJ Aks,who, for the past four years, has co-produced Bollywood music with music producer Suketu. “We wanted to do something to encourage our cricket team to bring home the cup. This is just a token gesture,” says Aks. To help the score is an R&B track,Play For the Game ,whose lyrics are— every night and day/every game you play/Raise your head so high/shout and touch the sky. The other tracks are Play Together and Joy Korbo Bangladesh ,a two-minute number in Bangla. “We have a separate track in Bengali since Bangladesh is playing host to few World Cup matches,” explains Aks.
