A 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped and murdered by the driver of the car in which she was travelling with her father, sister and brother in Karwi police station area of Chitrakoot district on Monday. However, the police said that medical examination did not confirm sexual assault.
The police said the girls father,a resident of Banda city, complained that he,along with his two daughters and a son,was travelling to Sitapur town in Chitrakoot district by a car he had hired from Banda. He alleged that when the car was near Shivrampur at around 2 am,driver Manoj Tiwari,a resident of Mahoba, and his unidentified aide mischievously made the car fall in the roadside ditch, causing minor injuries to him,his son and daughters. When he came out of the car,he found that his daughter was lying injured a few metres away on the roadside, the father alleged. He accused Tiwari and his aide of raping and killing his daughter.
Suresh Chandra Rawat,Circle Officer (City),said the postmortem did not find anything indicating sexual assault. He said the cause of death is lungs getting ruptured due to injury. He said the woman had recently got separated from her husband and was living with her father. Rawat said the father used to work as a watchman in a school, but was sacked from there. He said the drivers seat had blood on it,which indicates that the driver also suffered injuries in the accident.
