A 40-YEAR-OLD woman was stabbed to death allegedly by the boyfriend of her minor [teenaged] daughter as she did not approve of their relationship, the Agra police said on Friday.
According to the police, on Wednesday, a 46-year-old man lodged a complaint at the police station concerned in Agra saying his wife was missing since afternoon and her phone was also switched off. The police failed to find any clues till Thursday when they got information that a woman’s body had been found near a temple.
A police team asked the complainant to reach the spot and went there. The man confirmed that the body was that of his wife. She had been attacked on the neck and stomach with a sharp-edged weapon, the police said.
“Our investigation revealed that a 20-year-old youth, the [alleged] boyfriend of the couple’s minor daughter, is the prime suspect in the murder. No arrest has been made yet,” said the in-charge of the police station concerned.
Police said that they checked the messages on the complainant’s phone and found that his daughter had asked him to reach the area near the temple premises along with his wife. “When they reached, the daughter sent another message saying she had come home and the man left his wife there to pick up his daughter. When he and his daughter returned to the spot, the wife was missing,” said the police officer.
He pointed out that when the daughter was asked why she had sent misleading messages to her father, she denied doing so. “Later, she told us that her mother did not allow her to go out alone as she knew about her boyfriend. She told him that her mother was causing a problem and he assured her that he would deal with the mother. A search is on for the accused,” added the officer.
