All-round efforts by Vineet Singh (70 runs; 1 for 15) and an unbeaten 64 run knock by Shashank Simon went a long way as St Ann’s Cricket Academy defeated Lucknow Cricket Foundation by 88 runs in their knock-out stage match of the First Games Promotion Cricket Trophy at LDA Stadium here on Friday. While opener Vineet’s 70 came off 85 balls which featured eight boundaries,Shashank’s unbeaten 64 resulted off 42 balls which included seven hits to the fence and two lofty sixes.

LDACC triumphs

LDA Coaching Centre (LDACC) registered a 26-run victory against LCA Vikas Nagar in their pre-quarterfinal match of the Shri Ram Swaroop Memorial Cricket Tournament at Ram Swaroop grounds here on Friday.

Snooker tourney

SIX of the eight groups had clear qualifiers to the next stage of the Pre J & K Snooker Tournament in progress here. Two groups ended with three way ties. In Group H,young cueist Anuj Mahajan entangled two veterans Dr Saurabh Sonkar and Pawan Lakhani in a web that he spun through his brilliant cueing to emerge triumphant. In another tie,Shitij Thakural managed to beat talented Shobhit Pandey. Senior players Sudhanshu Lal,Abhishek Singh,Vikas Sharma and Sanjay Chandani moved into the knock-out stage with good ease.
