THE budget session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly will begin on February 2, with the House likely to pass a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others for successful organisation of the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, officials said.
The session will start with Governor Anandiben Patel’s address to a joint sitting of both Houses and the budget will be tabled on February 5.
Also, the Assembly is likely to pass a resolution congratulating Janata Dal (United) Nitish Kumar for becoming Chief Minister of Bihar again, it is learnt.
The annual budget, which was Rs 6.90 lakh crore in 2022-23, is likely to be more than Rs 7.20 lakh crore this time. It is ikely to include more provisions for the development of places of religious significance, such as Ayodhya, Varanasi and Mathura, the sources said.
The session is likely to conclude on February 12. With February 4 being a Sunday, officials said that the annual demands for grants are likely to be tabled on February 5.
The session will start a day after the entire state Cabinet is scheduled to offer prayers at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on February 1.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was in Ayodhya on Monday to review the arrangements for the visitors arriving at the Ram Temple. Officials pointed out that all the arrangements are being reviewed in coordination with the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra as chief ministers and cabinet ministers from different states are likely to arrive in Ayodhya next month for “darshan” at the temple.

Meanwhile, the Opposition is also preparing to counter the BJP government in the state on the issues of development, inflation as well as investments that were actually received against the promised proposals made during the UP Global Investors’ Summit.
