A 63-year-old woman, widow of a police official, was found murdered at her house in Georgetown area of Allahabad city on Thursday morning.
Indra Singh, whose husband Arjun Singh, a Deputy SP with the Uttar Pradesh Police, had died in 2009, used to stay alone at her house, police said. She did not have any children, and had rented out the first floor to her nephew Amrendra and one Amit Mishra, police added.

Indra’s body was found on early Thursday morning with her throat found slit by a sharp-edged weapon. Police have lodged a case of murder against unidentified persons.

Georgetown SHO Vinod Kumar Singh said no valuables were found missing from her house, ruling out robbery as a motive behind her murder. He added that Singh was a rich woman and it is likely that she was killed over some property dispute. Probe is still on.
