Uttar Pradesh, which has been experiencing warmer-than-usual weather over the past few days, is set to see a change. Thanks to two successive western disturbances, temperatures are expected to gradually fall by 2-4°C over the next three to four days.

Scientists said that in some areas, especially the Western and Central parts of the state, the temperature is likely to fall below 8-10°C — with fog expected, especially in the morning hours.

“Due to the cold and dry westerly/north-western winds gaining strength again, there is a possibility of a gradual drop of about 2-4°C in temperature of the state in the next 3-4 days, along with fog in the morning (dawn) and light fog at some places,” informed Atul Kumar Singh, senior scientist at the India Meteorological Centre (IMD), Lucknow.

On Sunday, state capital Lucknow witnessed a minimum temperature of about 12°C and a maximum of about 26°C. The minimum temperature was 1.8°C above normal. This would change in the coming few days, said experts.

“The weather is most likely to be dry, and shallow to moderate fog is very likely at isolated places in the morning hours over the State,” experts explained.

On Sunday, some districts in Western UP like Etawah, Bareilly, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor witnessed a minimum temperature below 10°C; these regions are likely to witness a further fall in temperature in the initial days of December.

Etawah’s minimum temperature was 9.4°C, Bareilly was 8°C, Muzaffarnagar was 9.6°C, Bijnor at 9.5°C, Bulandshahr was 10°C.
