In an attempt to streamline utilisation of ‘Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)’ funds in Uttar Pradesh, state government has decided to form a high-level follow-up committee headed by Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan with heads of as many as 15 different departments as its members.

Similar district-level committees with eight members headed by the district magistrate would also be formed to see the implementation of CSR funds at the grass-root level.

The committees would have representatives of non-government organisations, IITs as well as IIMs. The government has made Udyog Bandhu as the nodal agency for co-ordinating as well as suggesting policy level changes if required for systematic utilisation of CSR fund.

For the purpose, Udyog Bandhu has been asked to identify the projects and areas where the CSR fund of private companies can be used.

The projects especially in health, education, cleanliness, education, women empowerment, environment, rural sports, rural development, development of slums, etc. would then be uploaded on the website of Udyog Bandhu for ease of access.

The committee has been asked to meet at least once in every two months to clear pending issues related to the co-ordination between different departments as well as finalisation of such projects, which need fresh or additional funds.
