THE Uttar Pradesh board examinations for classes 10 and 12 will begin from March 3,2014,Secondary Education Director Vasudev Yadav announced here on Wednesday evening at a press conference. As many as 71,20,265 students 39,93,199 for high school and 31,27,066 for intermediate are registered for the 2014 examinations.
This is 6,74,909 students more than last year, which was cited by Yadav as a “normal yearly increase”.Yadav said the reason for announcing the schedule early was to indicate to students to start their preparations.
For intermediate practicals,15 marks will be allotted by internal and external examiners each. Previously, all practical marks were adjudged by external examiners. Examinations will end on March 21 and April 4 for classes 12 and 10,respectively,and will be conducted in approximately 10,500 centres across the state. Yadav said the upcoming Lok Sabha elections were partly the reason for advancing the examination dates. Moreover, the online registration, which started this year in classes 9 and 11,shows 245 schools having failed to enrol any student in these classes. These schools have been served a notice, said Yadav.
