Two youths molest,set minor girl on fire

The victim's elder brother,who was returning home from the market,sawhis sister shouting for help.

A minor girl was set on fire by two youths after they were beaten up by victim’s brother for allegedly molesting her in City Kotwali police station area of Lalitpur district Friday morning. The girl,who has suffered over 80 per cent burns,was alone in the house when she was burnt. She is under treatment at Jhansi medical college.

An FIR has been lodged in this connection against Shiv Shankar and Rohit Thakur of the same locality.

Rohit Thakur has been arrested and police teams are conducting raids to arrest another

accused,said Lalitpur Superintendent of Police SP Vijay Yadav.

Kotwali police station SHO Uday Bhan said the victim’s father,who is a farmer,alleged in his complaint that his 13-year-old daughter was going to nearby market kast evening when Shanker and Thakur molested her.

The victim’s elder brother,who was returning home from the market,saw his sister shouting for help. He,along with some locals,assaulted the two youths,who escaped from the place later,added the girl’s father.

He also alleged in the complaint that his daughter was sleeping alone in the house this morning when Shanker and Rohit entered her room and set her on fire. While the duo escaped,the neighbours doused the flames and rushed his daughter to hospital,he added.

Meanwhile,the SHO told The Indian Express,the primary investigation has found that while the incident of molestation was true,the girl had set herself on fire at her house,claimed Uday Bhan
