Two minors were found dead under mysterious circumstances in a deserted swimming pool in Moradabad districts Civil Lines area on Tuesday noon.
Samir Saini and Dheeraj Bisht,both 11-year-old,were Class V students at the Railways Bal Mandir Junior High School.
They were found dead at the pool on the Northern Railways officers club compound just opposite their school. Both had gone missing after their classes got over at 1 pm on Monday.
None knew how to swim.
The Commandant of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Moradabad,Jitendra Srivastava,said: The pool has been lying unused for the last one year but has about 10-ft deep water. The watchmen deny having seen the boys around.
He added the gates of the club were open as renovation work was going on in the building.
Moradabad SP (City) Subhash Baghel said,We cannot say if the boys drowned accidentally. No one has seen them around the pool and their bodies bore no injury marks.
A teacher of the school,Radha Rani,spotted the bodies floating on the pool around 2 pm and informed the police.
While both were wearing school uniform,their bags were found lying in their classrooms.
The families of the boys did not inform the police when they went missing on Monday but looked for them on their own,the SP added.
While Samirs father Harpal Saini runs a roadside dhaba in J P Nagar district,Dheerajs father Pan Singh Bisht is a class IV employee with the Railways in Moradabad.
