The police today arrested three persons, including two students, for allegedly attacking an 11-year-old boy Shravan at the house of a doctor where they had gone to commit a robbery,in Vibhuti Khand police station area on August 30.
The arrested persons were identified as Ajay Yadav,a resident of Chinhat area,Anurag Singh and Rachit Dikshit, both residents of Indira Nagar. They were arrested from near Polytechnic roundabout, police said.
Police claimed that Yadav, who had earlier been to Dr R K Guptas house posing as a dance teacher, had planned the robbery. According to police, the robbers watched the house of Gupta from a distance on August 30 to see the movement of people to and from the house. On seeing Gupta and his daughter leave the house, they were convinced that Guptas wife Neelam was alone. So they approached her by ringing the doorbell of the house and requested her to provide the basement of the house on rent. Neelam declined the request and went to the first floor of the house, police said.
The robbers were shocked to see Shravan,a resident of Barabankis Thal Kala village, unexpectedly present in the house. They tried to carry him towards the store room in the basement to keep him as a captive but Shravan raised an alarm forcing the robbers to run. Before running away Anurag attacked Shravan with a knife, causing injuries in his abdomen and thighs. The boy was kept on ventilator till Tuesday and was later shifted to a general ward when his condition improved.
A day before the incident,Shravan, son of a farmer, had come to Lucknow from Barabanki to get treated for pain in his abdomen. His brother Ranjit had left him at Dr Guptas house as he was known to them. The day Shravan was to visit the doctor, the incident took place and he was injured.
An FIR had been lodged against unidentified accused persons at Vibhuti Khand police station under various Sections of IPC including 307(attempt to murder). Police said the arrested persons have revealed that another person,Durgesh Pandey,a resident of Hardoi district, was also with them when the robbery was committed.
