High court lawyers Tuesday decided to continue with the strike till they met the Chief Minister and the Chief Justice even as the Allahabad High Court Bar Association (AHCBA) president informed them of assurances from Union Law Minister and the Chief Justice of India over a separate bench in western UP.
The strike began last Tuesday.
AHCBA honorary secretary Prabha Shankar Mishra said: “The president of the association said he had been given assurances by the Law Minister and the CJI that there was no proposal for a separate western UP bench. But since there are media reports about the Law Ministry seeking opinion of UP Chief Minister,we want to be doubly assured. The court will remain closed for Raksha Bandhan. So the strike will continue till at least Thursday. A meeting with the CM will be held soon.
AHCBA president K N Mishra said: Once I explained to the Bar about our meeting with the Union Law Minister and the CJI,everything was settled. For me,the issue rests there. I decided to leave it to the house about future action. They have decided to continue with the strike till their meeting with the CM.
