The state Special Task Force (STF) arrested gangster Gauri Yadav alias Udaibhan Yadav from Bikaner in Rajasthan on Tuesday. His identity was confirmed in Banda.
While Yadav was carrying a reward of Rs 20,000 from the state police,the Madhya Pradesh (MP) Police had announced a bounty of Rs 15,000 on his head. He was wanted in over 13 cases of heinous crimes,including kidnapping and attempt to murder in Chitrakoot district and MPs Satna.
The police have recovered a self-loaded rifle (SLR) along with a magazine and 80 cartridges from the accused.
The SLR and the two rifles were stolen from three constables of the Banda police in 2006,when they were escorting Yadavs associate Pappu Yadav to the Chhatarpur district court in MP.
Pappu was rescued by his gang members and the weapons were stolen in Ajaigarh area of MPs Panna district.
He was later killed in an encounter with the state STF on July 18,2007.
