The Samajwadi Party (SP) leadership has not reconstituted its youth frontal organisations for the past one year.
The national executive committees of SPs four frontal organisations Lohia Vahini,Chhatra Sabha,Yuvjan Sabha and Mulayam Singh Youth Brigade along with state units of Yuvjan Sabha and Lohia Vahini have not been constituted since January 3.
Only Chhatra Sabha and Mulayam Singh Youth Brigade have state presidents but their executive remain to be formed.
The youth frontal organisations’ office situated at Raj Bhawan Colony wears a deserted look with most of the rooms remaining locked.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who is the state president of SP,is also the in-charge of frontal organisations of the party. The routine meeting on the first day of every month for the youths at CMs residence has also not been held for the past five months.
After the SP assumed power in the state. these frontal organisations were reconstituted in May last year. However, some senior leaders and ministers complained to SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav about the behaviour of youth leaders for allegedly influencing government contracts, calling up officials for various purposes, and throwing their weight around after which Mulayam dissolved all the frontal organisations on January 3.
It was reported that Akhilesh was not consulted before the action was taken.
Later,Mulayam, during a meeting of youth leaders on April 17,announced that all the units of frontal organisations will be restored with immediate effect. The jubilation among the youth leaders was short lived as another circular from Mulayams cousin Ramgopal Yadav arrived within a few hours which clarified that only district and city unit presidents of four frontal organisations will be reinstated.
It was also decided that any youth leader who is 35 years of age and above will not be appointed as national and state president of a youth frontal organisation.
