To lay foundation of forged wheel factory

LUCKNOW: After a gap of almost six months,Congress president Sonia Gandhi is set to visit her Lok Sabha constituency,Rae Bareli,on October 8 to lay the foundation stone of a forged wheel factory to be established by Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd in Lalganj area.

She is also scheduled to hold a meeting of the District Vigilance Committee.

With the party losing all Assembly seats that fall under Rae Bareli in 2102,Sonia’s daughter Priyanka Gandhi has been involved in cadre activities in the constituency and has successfully created a new organisational structure till the grassroots level.

At the same time, several new projects have been announced for Rae Bareli, from a women’s university to a civil aviation university and an AIIMS-like institution.

Sonia’s visit would be significant in the wake of recent protests by villagers outside the rail coach factory site demanding jobs. Railway officials, along with officials from her office, had come down from Delhi to settle the issue.

Meanwhile,Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi would be in his constituency,Amethi,on October 7. He is likely to lay the foundation stone of an agro park there.
