Slain cop’s wife turns down job,seeks DSP post

The wife of slain Kunda Circle Officer Ziaul Haque has refused to accept the job offered by the state government and said she would not settle for less than the post of her murdered husband - Deputy Superintendent of Police.

The wife of slain Kunda Circle Officer Ziaul Haque has refused to accept the job offered by the state government and said she would not settle for less than the post of her murdered husband – Deputy Superintendent of Police.

“I will only accept the post of DSP which was held by my husband,” Parveen Azad told reporters in Deoria on Saturday. The state had appointed her Officer on Special Duty (OSD),Welfare,in UP Police — a post specifically created for her and carried the same pay scale as DSP (15,600-39,100) — on Friday. She was also posted at Gorakhpur so that she remains close to her house.

Haque’s brother,who was appointed a constable,meanwhile,said his parents will decide for him. “I will do what my parents will say. It is totally their decision,” Sohrab Azad said. He refused to comment on his sister-in-law’s stand.
