A seed production company’s decision to withdraw its proposal of setting up a factory on the Lucknow-Kanpur road due to procedural delays on part of the state government spurred the administrative machinery to grant it the mandatory clearance,pending for long,“within 20 minutes”.
Andhra Pradesh-based Nuziveedu Seeds Ltd had proposed to set up a research unit and a factory with the capacity to manufacture 50,000 quintals of certified seeds annually at Banthara on the outskirts of Lucknow.
It had sought clearances from Pollution Control Board,District Industries Centre,Lucknow Industrial Development Authority (LIDA),National Horticulture Board,power and fire departments.
However,fed up with inordinate delay in granting clearance,managing director of the company Rishi Arora,recently conveyed to the state government that they want to withdraw their proposal.
A stunned Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner,Alok Ranjan,Friday called a meeting of all the senior district and state officers of the concerned departments,from whom the clearances were sought by the company.
Sources said all the departments had given go ahead to the factory,except LIDA and fire department that had sought to do so by October 31. However,an official statement later claimed the clearances were given “within 20 minutes during the meeting”.
Later in the day,Ranjan also held review of infrastructure and industrial investment in the state. He claimed that UP has attracted Rs 9,608 crore investment in past one year,which includes about Rs 1,500 crore of projects,which have been implemented and remaining are ongoing projects.
