Following an alert issued by Intelligence Bureau (IB),Uttar Pradesh government has beefed up security at Raja Suheldev ground in Bahraich where BJPs prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will be addressing the third Vijay Shankhnad rally Friday,IG Law and Order RK Vishwakarma said.
The deployment includes four SPs,12 additional SPs,29 deputy SPs,225 sub-inspectors and 730 constables (both men and women),86 Anti-Teror Squad commandos,six companies of Provincial Arms Constabulary,bomb disposal squads and anti-sabotage teams.
Vishwakarma said that Bahraich border of Nepal has become sensitive after the arrest of IM operative Afzal Usmani. Usmani was arrested at Bahraich railway station last month.
Help of Sashastra Seema Bal that mans the Indo-Nepal border has also been taken. A DIG ranked official from Gujarat has reached Bahraich,who will coordinate with local police on security issues. Gorakhpur Zone IG Zaki Ahmed is currently camping in Bahraich to supervise security arrangements.
BJP had earlier sought more security cover for Modi after the recent bomb blasts before the Patna rally. UP Police have put up posters of IM operative Tehseen Akhtar at public places in Bahraich after his role emerged in the Patna blasts.
According to reports,Bahraich district administration may also provide bullet-proof podium to Modi. The party is expecting an attendance of nearly two lakh at the rally.
The monitoring of all activities will be done through CCTV cameras installed at different corners and in middle of the ground. Five companies of PAC have already been deployed and every individual – including DM nd SP – are following the directives of entering their names and contacts in the visitors register at the main entrance of the ground.
Every one enters his name and contact details while entering the ground and the person also makes entry while leaving the ground, said Mukut Bihari Verma,local MLA and president of Awadh region. He said special passes have been issued to labourers working at the site. Modis close aide and BJPs in-charge for UP,Amit Shah,and other senior leaders will reach Bahraich Thursday to review the preparations of the rally.
