School teacher shot dead on AMU campus, search on for killers
According to the police, before shooting, one of the assailants told Rao: "You don't know me yet, now you will".
The Aligarh Police have formed six police teams to identify and track down the killers. AMU Proctor Mohammad Waseem Ali told the PTI that CCTV footage was unclear due to darkness and fog.
A 43-year-old school teacher was shot dead on the Aligarh Muslim University campus in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday night, police said. The assailants are yet to be identified.
Police said Danish Rao, who was a computer science teacher at the ABK High School on the campus for 11 years, was out for a walk with two colleagues when two men on a scooter stopped them at around 8.50 pm and shot him dead after an exchange of words.
According to the police, before shooting, one of the assailants told Rao: “You don’t know me yet, now you will”.
Police said Rao was rushed to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College but was declared dead on arrival. Civil Lines Station House Officer Vinod Kumar said multiple shots were fired at Rao. “Prima facie, it seems it was a 0.32 bore pistol,” he said.
