Satellite phones for officers at Naxal areas

The Uttar Pradesh Police have provided satellite phones to officers in Naxal-affected Sonbhadra and Chandauli districts for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 16.

The Uttar Pradesh Police have provided satellite phones to officers in Naxal-affected Sonbhadra and Chandauli districts for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 16.

Additional Director General (Law and Order) Brij Lal,while briefing about the security arrangement for elections in 13 districts,said 13 companies of PAC and six of CRPF had been deployed in Sonbhadra,Chandauli and Mirzapur to ensure peaceful elections. Sonbhadra and Chandauli police have also been provided six and 10 satellite phones respectively to ensure communication even in areas where telephone and cellphone network is not available.

“In all,95 companies of Central paramilitary forces and 78 companies of PAC have been deployed in the districts where polling would be held in the first phase,” Lal said.
